ishigaki-japan.com presents adverts in the form of contextually-generated ads, affiliate-based ads and specialised advertisements on behalf of companies who have specific business interests related to Ishigaki. In all cases ishigaki-japan.com cannot be held responsible for any perceived or actual loses sustained by those who choose to purchase goods or services from the listed vendors.

We do not place specialised adverts on the English-language section of the site unless we have received confirmation from the vendor that they are able to host English-speaking guests (be it through the presence of an English-language web page on their or an email which confirms this). If we have received specific information about English language limitations this will be specified on the main advertisement's page. It should be noted that in some cases we may have provided an English translation of Japanese on behalf of specific businesses operating on the island.

We trust that vendors, particularly those offering outdoor activities, have put in place adequate measures to protect the safety of their guests. If for any reason you don't feel safe or you feel that a language barrier is preventing you from understanding any instructions being provided then we suggest that you inform the service provider that you do not wish to proceed with the activity.

Hazards

There are many hazards on Ishigaki and its surrounding islands with the sea being particularly dangerous if not treated with respect (and sometimes even if it is treated with respect). Lives have been lost in Ishigaki's waters and it is your responsibility to ensure that you have undertaken as many safety preparations as possible before getting in the ocean.

On this website you may read articles and see photos of kayaking, swimming, snorkeling or diving on areas of coastline, all of which will present certain hazards. Indeed, some of these activities may be taking place in areas where swimming is prohibited. Irrespective of what you see on this site it is your responsibility to check for no-swimming signs before you enter the water. Although the ocean is beautiful it is notoriously dangerous in areas with rip-tides that will happily carry a swimmer out into deep water far from the coast. If in doubt, ask a local Japanese person who is able to read safety notices, but bear in mind that a lack of a sign does not mean an absence of danger.

While we endeavour to keep this information as up-to-date as possible it's inevitable that mistakes may occur.
